The Neus Catal Foundation available to teachers available to teachers to stop hate speeches among young people
The Neus Catal Foundation opens its vast archives to make it available to the educational community, with the aim that teachers and educators of all kinds have resources to fight against hate speech among young people. With this idea, the entity presented this Saturday in Barcelona the April project in Barcelona, a website (projectabril.cat) with 70 educational documents which are trying to promote education in democratic and anti -fascist values.
The director of the Foundation, Ricard Ribera, and the project coordinator, Nora Sánéné ousedik, highlighted the growing concern of the extension of the speeches of hatred among the youngest layers of the company, they therefore called to make a “common front” but without being “alarmist or pessimistic”.
The objective of the April project, as they explained, is to help “stop the expansion of hatred speeches, discriminatory behavior and sympathies on the far right among young people.” The documents, drawn up of the historic archives of the Foundation, aim for both the educational community – teachers to family associations, monitors of terrifying and esplais or youth and culture technicians, among others – and young people between 12 and 18 years old.
The Foundation also plans to create a democratic education program, “aligned with the new basic education program” and a pilot plan to “support centers in the work of rethinking and systematizing their educational action in the democratic key”.
The educational bank of resources and the project as a whole have the support of the Generalitat of Catalunya, the municipal council of Barcelona, the Diputación of Barcelona and the Memorial Democàtic. Pepín Beltran, secretary to improve education, attended the presentation, Gina Pol, secretary of equality of the Department of Equality and Feminism, and Noa Monràs, Director General of the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights.
