This post aims to inform and educate on some interesting facts about some big music festivals out there. The post includes information on where they are located, how much they cost and what type of bands play at each one. It also includes their reviews from users who have attended them previously.

1. Glastonbury:
Glastonbury is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world, attended by more than 175,000 people. It is held at Worthy Farm near Pilton, Somerset in South West England. The Pyramid Stage - the main stage area - was first built in 1993. The current one was built in 2001, making it one of the only two tents at Glastonbury that are permanent.
The first festival was held on Michael Eavis's farm on Saturday 20th September 1970. Only 1500 tickets were sold, but 7500 people turned up!

Coachella is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. It was founded by Paul Tollett in 1999, and is organized by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Live. The event features musical artists from multiple genres including rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures. Across the grounds, several stages continuously host live music. The event attracts mostly adult attendees, with a maximum capacity of 78,000 made up of a large local population as well as tourists. In 2007, the festival hosted three stages for the first time including an additional separate Laser Show Stage.

3. Lollapalooza:
Lollapalooza (sometimes known as Lollapalooza or Lolla) is an annual music festival that takes place in Chicago each year from August to September. It is one of North America's largest music festivals, drawing over 250,000 people over its four-day run every year (the other being Coachella). The name is derived from lollipop, in reference to the Lollipop Guild from L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz".

4. Ultra Music Festival:
Ultra Music Festival (commonly known as Ultra Music Festival or simply UMF) is an annual outdoor electronic music festival that takes place during March in the city of Miami, Florida. It was founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes and is named after the 1997 Depeche Mode album, Ultra. The name Ultra Music Festival was first used in 2001; it was not until 2007, however, that the word "festival" was added to differentiate it from other dance music festivals. The first festival took place at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami. The 2015 festival took place between March 26 and March 28, 2015.
5. Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival:
Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is an annual music and arts festival that takes place over two weekends, which has taken place in the Palm Springs area of Indio since 2006 (and before then at the Empire Polo Club).
6. Big Day Out:
Big Day Out is an Australian annual music festival, held in eight cities around the country. The event promotes independent and underground music from a variety of genres, including rock, pop, dance and hip hop.
7. Bonnaroo:
Bonnaroo is an annual four day outdoor musical extravaganza that takes place in Manchester, Tennessee at the Great Stage Park (formerly known as The Farm). The festival draws crowds of more than 80,000 people and is best known for its large art installations and eclectic mix of music. The event is typically held in the second weekend of June over a four-day period.
8. Reading and Leeds Festivals:
Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual rock music festivals that take place near the towns of Reading and Leeds in England; Reading takes place over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Caversham Park, whilst Leeds takes place over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Bramham Park. The events take place simultaneously every year.

Coachella was also featured in the 2012 documentary "ReGeneration". The film follows three generations of EDM artists, including Kaskade, Paul Oakenfold, Afrojack, David Guetta and Moby as they travel to the desert to perform at the festival.
The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is a dance festival held annually at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since its inception in 1997, EDC has developed into one of the largest and most famous electronic dance music festivals in the world. Consisting of 14 different stages and several distinct nightclubs and themed areas and events, EDC is held over three days over Memorial Day weekend. It has grown to draw between 200,000 and 500,000 attendees each year making it one of the largest outdoor festivals in North America.
